Robinhood Stock Tokens went live on Uniswap this week without lifting the price. Uniswap’s 50-period and 200-period moving averages are converging toward a bearish crossover. Uniswap’s governance token closed a fourth consecutive losing session on Thursday at $3. 224 on Binance, down 7. 52% over 24 hours and 19. 13% across the past seven days, leaving the token with a market capitalization of roughly $2B. The drawdown came within 48 hours ofUniswap Labs announcingthat more than 190 Robinhood Stock Tokens had gone live across the Uniswap Protocol, its apps and its API, a listing that would ordinarily count as one of the more consequential product expansions of the year for a decentralized exchange. Price spent the first ten days of August compressed between the 0. 382 level at $3. 707 and the 0. 618 level at $4. 039, a range that produced repeated failed attempts to reclaim $4. 00. On August 11 that range broke. The candle that did the damage opened near $3. 82 and closed under $3. 50, wiping out the 0. 382 and 0. 236 retracement zones in a single four-hour session on visibly elevated volume. UNI/USDT 4-hour chart, price testing $3. 171 support. Chart by Alexander Stefanov, TradingViewWhat matters about the 0. 236 level at $3. 502 is not the number itself but what happens when a market slices through the shallowest retracement of an entire move. It means buyers who accumulated across the July rally are underwater as a group, with no intermediate shelf left between current price and the origin of the move at $3. 171. The 14-period RSI on the same timeframe printed 25. 47 against its signal line at 31. 02. A reading in the mid-20s tells you the selling has been persistent enough that most recent sessions closed lower than they opened, and historically UNI has not stayed at this level for long. That is a statement about momentum exhaustion, not about direction. Readings this low on the 4-hour chart have resolved both ways for UNI over the past year, which is why the level is worth noting and not worth trading on its own. More consequential for anyone holding through the next few weeks is what the moving averages are doing. The 50-period SMA sits at $3. 822 and the 200-period SMA at $3. 813. The 50-period average sat comfortably above the 200-period through late June and July, and that gap has now closed to less than a cent, with the shorter average falling fast and the longer one flattening. A crossover on the 4-hour chart does not carry the weight of a daily death cross, but it does confirm that the intermediate trend has turned, and it puts a band of overhead supply directly at $3. 80 to $3. 87 where the moving averages and the 0. 5 retracement overlap. UNI holders earn nothing from the 190 new trading pairsOn August 13, Robinhood Crypto said it had brought 100 additional stock tokens live on Robinhood Chain, taking the total past 190. Uniswap confirmed the same day that those assets were tradable through its protocol, its front-end apps and its API, with self-custody and continuous availability as the pitch. Tokenized equities on a permissionless AMM is a genuine structural development, and it is exactly the kind of headline that sends smaller DeFi tokens up 20% in an afternoon. UNI fell instead, and the reason is mechanical rather than sentimental. TheUNI tokendoes accrue protocol revenue now, which makes the selling harder to explain than it would have been a year ago. Uniswap governance passed the UNIfication proposal in December 2025 with 125 million votes in favor against 742 opposed, activating protocol fees on v2 and v3 pools that account for as much as 95% of liquidity provider fees collected on Ethereum mainnet. Those fees flow into a redemption pool that UNI holders draw against by burning their tokens. The DAO also destroyed 100 million UNI outright at execution. What the Robinhood listing adds to that machine is volume on Robinhood Chain, a network where the fee switch has not been turned on, since the December vote covered mainnet pools and left activation on v4 and other chains to future proposals. That is the gap the market is pricing. Uniswap dominates its category by almost every usage metric available. $3. 5TAll-time volume settled$4BFees paid to liquidity providers36. 36MDistinct wallets traded61. 75%Share of all DEX wallets217,387Assets traded in 30 days23Chains with official deploymentNearly two out of every three wallets that have ever touched a decentralized exchange have touched Uniswap, according to Blockworks data. A $2B market capitalization against $3. 5T of lifetime settled volume is the kind of ratio that either signals deep undervaluation or signals that the market has correctly concluded the token captures none of it. Two thirds of Uniswap volume never leaves Ethereum mainnetUniswap’s chain distribution complicates the multichain growth story that has supported the token in past cycles. Ethereum mainnet accounts for 67. 4% of all-time volume, with Arbitrum a distant second at 13. 6% and everything else, including BNB Chain, Base, Polygon and Uniswap’s own Unichain, splitting the remainder. Robinhood Chain appears in the breakdown as one of the smallest slices. For the tokenized equity listing to reach the burn mechanism, either the Robinhood slice grows by orders of magnitude or governance votes to extend protocol fees beyond mainnet v2 and v3 pools. Neither has happened. The deployment count of 23 chains reads impressively on a dashboard, and it also means the protocol’s revenue base is concentrated on exactly the network where gas costs are highest. What has to happen before $3. 80 stops being a ceilingThe immediate technical question is whether $3. 171 holds. A four-hour close below it invalidates the entire retracement structure and opens the June range, where UNI last traded between $2. 80 and $3. 00. Reclaiming $3. 502 would be the first evidence that sellers have finished, and even then the $3. 80 band where both moving averages sit would need to give way before any of this looks like a reversal rather than a relief bounce. The fundamental question is no longer whether UNI captures value but how much, and from where. UNIfication restructured more than the fee switch: the Uniswap Foundation is winding down with most staff moving to Uniswap Labs, Labs gave up interface and wallet fees entirely, and a 20 million UNI annual growth budget began distributing quarterly from January 2026. That budget is an emission running against the burn, and the arithmetic between the two is what determines whether protocol growth actually shrinks supply. Extending protocol fees to v4 pools and to chains beyond Ethereum would need a separate governance vote, and no such proposal is currently scheduled.
