- Advertisement -Solana is trading near $74, wedged against the downtrend that has capped it since May. Validators are signaling support for two proposals that would burn more SOL and slow new issuance. The burn plan alone stays small next to daily issuance, which is why a second disinflation proposal rides alongside it. BlackRock added Solana to a tokenized money market fund built for stablecoin reserves. The Solana price is changing hands around $73. 90 on Tuesday, barely moved on the day, while two forces pull at it from opposite ends. On the chart, SOL is squeezed into the tip of a three-month downtrend and cannot get through the $74 to $75 band that has turned it away again and again. Away from the chart, validators spent this week signaling support for a pair of governance proposals that would rework how much SOL gets created and destroyed, and BlackRock just placed a tokenized cash fund on the network. None of it has resolved. That is the whole story right now. The $74 ceiling that has held since MayDraw one line on the daily chart and the rest of the picture falls into place. That line runs down from the $98. 46 top set in early May, and it has knocked back every rally attempt for three months. Since the start of July the price has also been carving out a falling wedge underneath it, a shape where each bounce peaks a little lower and each dip bottoms a little higher, so the range narrows to a point. Those two lines have now almost met at the right edge of the chart. When a wedge tightens to its apex like this, the compression is finished and something has to give, usually within days. SOL/USDT (Daily): pinned under $75. — Alexander StefanovWhat turns $74 to $75 into the real pivot is how much is stacked there. The 0. 382 Fibonacci retracement of the May-to-June selloff sits at $74. 94, which is simply one of the standard levels traders watch for a bounce to stall after a big drop. The descending trendline passes through roughly the same spot. Price keeps stalling a few cents below it. Three separate reasons for sellers to defend the same handful of dollars, and it is why the current candle cannot push above the band. What would actually confirm a move, and what would break itA falling wedge leans bullish by convention, and this one is textbook clean, with volume draining lower through July and into August as the range narrows. That contraction is exactly what you want to see going into a resolution. The honest part is that the confirmation is not here yet. RSI, the momentum gauge that runs from 0 to 100, sits at 46, below the neutral 50 mark and flat against its own signal line, so momentum has not turned up. A wedge only becomes a signal once price breaks the upper boundary, and it has not. The levels I am watching cut both ways:Upside:the first hurdle is $74. 94 with the trendline right above it. A daily close through that band, ideally on rising volume, is what switches the bullish wedge read on and opens the door to $79. 43, then $83. 92 where the July rally died. Downside:the lower wedge line comes in near $68 to $69, almost exactly on the $69. 39 Fibonacci level. That is the floor. A daily close below it kills the wedge and puts the $60. 41 June low back on the table. Everything between $69 and $75 is noise until one side gives way. A daily close outside that range is the tell. SOL levels to watch$83. 92Where the July bounce diedTarget 2$79. 43First stop above the trendlineTarget 1$74. 94Trendline sits here. The wall to break. Pivot~$73. 90Pinned at the apex of the wedgeNow$69. 39Lower wedge line. Has to hold. Support$60. 41June low, back in play if $69 breaksInvalidationWhy the 14x burn plan barely moves the needle on its ownNow the reason the fundamentals are worth watching this week. Validators began signaling support forSIMD-0553, a proposal that changes how transaction fees workso that heavier transactions pay more and the extra fee is destroyed rather than paid to a validator. Solana burns roughly 648 SOL a daytoday, about $47,000 at current prices. Under the new fee, that daily burn jumps to somewhere between 7,500 and 9,000 SOL, or as much as $650,000 a day. Close to a 14x increase. Set against issuance, the effect shrinks fast. Solana still mints around 60,000 new SOL every single day, near a 3. 8% annual inflation rate. Even at the high end, 9,000 SOL burned barely touches 60,000 SOL created. Daily flowNowIf SIMD-0553 passesNew SOL issued~60,000~60,000 (unchanged by this proposal)SOL burned~6487,500 to 9,000Burn value~$47,000up to ~$650,000Annual inflation~3. 8%~3. 8% (handled by SIMD-0550 instead)That gap is exactly why the burn proposal does not travel alone. A companion proposal, SIMD-0550,doubles Solana’s annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. In plain terms, it pulls the network’s 1. 5% terminal inflation floor forward to roughly 2029 from 2032 and strips out about 18. 9 million SOL of future emissions over six years, a figure worth around $1. 36 billion at today’s price. One proposal burns more of what already exists; the other slows how fast new supply arrives. Together they bite on both ends. The votes still have to clear a stake threshold by Aug. 18Neither change is live, and neither is guaranteed. Support so far stands at 24. 94 million SOL, led heavily by validator Helius, but the proposals need to attract roughly 40 million more to clear the 15% signaling threshold that lets them advance to a formal vote by Aug. 18. On the mechanics, SIMD-0553 splits today’s flat 5,000-lamport signature fee into a 2,500-lamport inclusion fee that still pays the block leader and a resource fee equal to 0. 5 lamports per requested compute unit, which is burned in full. Charging for requested units rather than used ones is deliberate, since it forces senders to stop over-claiming compute budgets they never touch, a habit that currently clogs how the network orders transactions. BlackRock lands a cash fund on Solana, one of three chainsThe institutional side moved this week too. BlackRock, which manages north of $15 trillion, launchedthe BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle, ticker RSVXX, on Monday. Its prospectus, filed with the SEC on July 31 after initial paperwork in May, records share ownership across Ethereum, Tempo and Solana, with Securitize acting as transfer agent. So Solana is one venue of three here, not the exclusive home the headlines suggest. The fund itself holds only cash, short-term U. S. Treasuries and overnight repos backed by them, and holds no crypto at all. Its purpose is narrow and specific: to qualify as an eligible reserve asset under the GENIUS Act, so stablecoin issuers can park the money backing their coins in a regulated, yield-bearing product that settles onchain. BREAKING: BlackRock files with the SEC to issue tokenized fund shares on Solana. BlackRock expanded its cash management strategy with the launch of BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle ("BRSRV") on Solana. The world's largest asset manager, with $15…pic. twitter. com/jqEss1oPG9— Solana (@solana)August 3, 2026That fits a broader footprint Solana has been quietly building. Real-world assets distributed on the network sit around $3. 69 billion, up on the month, and the stablecoin market cap on Solana is near $16 billion with holders climbing past 11 million. A tokenized cash fund from the world’s largest asset manager is a vote of confidence in that plumbing, even if the token price is not reacting to it yet. What changes from hereFor traders, the immediate catalyst is not the chart but the Aug. 18 deadline, because that is when the market learns whether the supply story becomes real or stalls at the signaling stage. Even if it clears, both proposals still move through separate development and activation timelines, so the tighter tokenomics play out over years rather than landing as a supply shock this quarter. The BlackRock fund works the same way, adding institutional infrastructure that compounds slowly instead of moving price on the day. Which leaves the near-term read where it started: SOL is pressed against a three-month downtrend inside a tightening wedge with flat momentum, and the first daily close outside $69 to $75 is what tells you which way the next leg runs.
