Read Nancy Guthrie’s ransom note here: Chilling threats, Bitcoin demands emerge amid ongoing FBI investigation

It reads like something out of a crime thriller, but for journalistSavannah Guthrie, it’s painfully real. Newly revealed details from the first ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance have exposed a chilling timeline, a brazen demand, and a threat that still hangs heavy over the case months later. More than six months after 84-year-oldNancy Guthrievanished from her Tucson home, journalist and documentarian Briana Whitney shared unsettling excerpts of the letter on Ashley Flowers’ Crime Junkie podcast, offering the public its clearest look yet at the message that shook the Guthrie family to its core. ‘We have your mother’: The opening threatWhitney read directly from the note, which was sent just one day after Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1. “Hello, Savannah. We have your mother, Nancy. She is safe but scared. She will be held for ransom, and once payment is received, she will be released unharmed. We will be holding her for a maximum of seven days. ” The message was addressed specifically to Savannah. Millions in Bitcoin, and a deadly deadlineAccording to previously reported details, the sender ordered a payment of $4 million inBitcoinby Feb. 5. If the family failed to meet the deadline, the amount would spike to $6 million, with a final cutoff of 5 pm local time on Feb. 9. Whitney described the tone of he demand as “pretty demanding and snarky,” noting how the writer insisted there would be no room for negotiation. “Once payment is received to the Bitcoin address below, she will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a safe drop-off location back in Tucson,” she read. “If the payment is not received by the last deadline on Monday the 9th at 5 pm, she will be killed. ”‘Her life is in your hands’The letter escalated further, placing emotional pressure squarely on Savannah, “Your mother is aware of this and her life is in your hands. It is in the best interest of everyone to have this completed as soon as possible. You will not be able to contact me from here on out. There will be no negotiation. Do not play games. Law enforcement will not be able to help you. ”Perhaps most disturbing were the specific details about Nancy’s home, details that suggested the sender knew the crime scene, “She had a white smart watch that was on the floor near her bed, like at the foot of her bed, and then there was this floodlight that was destroyed in the back yard. ”Three notes, one mysteryThe first letter was only the beginning. At least three ransom notes have surfaced since Nancy’s disappearance. After the initial deadline passed, a second message reportedly claimed Nancy had died, without asking for further payment. Then, months later, a third note emerged, offering disturbing proof-of-life material, including a video and personal details, in exchange for money. Reports suggest all three notes may have come from the same sender. Earlier reports suggested the notes were not genuine, but theFBIlater clarified that while some letters have been dismissed, others are still being treated as “potentially legitimate. ” For Savannah Guthrie, the ordeal is far from over. In a statement earlier this year, she described the past months as “five months of agony and unending trauma. ”“There is not a moment that goes by that we aren’t actively trying to find our mom,” she said. “Bring her home. ” The agency continues to investigate the case as a kidnapping for ransom, working alongside local authorities. A reward of up to $50,000remains in place for information leading to Nancy’s recovery. (Feature Image Credit: Instagram/@savannahguthrie)ALSO READ|Is Nancy Guthrie dead?
