Meta adds stablecoin option for advertisers to fund ad accounts

The company also offers creators the option to be paid in cryptocurrency as part of its creator monetisation process, and it also enables advertisers to pay for ads with crypto options. New UpdateMeta has introducedstablecoin paymentsas an option for advertisers in select countries to add funds to their ad accounts. Advertisers can use USDC, a stablecoin designed to maintain a 1:1 peg with the US dollar, to fund their accounts. The company does not directly hold, transmit, or process stablecoins. Instead, a third-party payment partner converts USDC into local currency and settles the payment with Meta. The corresponding amount is then added to the advertiser's ad account balance in the selected currency. The company also offers creators the option to be paid in cryptocurrency as part of its creator monetisation process, and it also enables advertisers to pay for ads with crypto options. Advertisers can select stablecoin as a payment option, send USDC from their crypto wallet to the third-party payment partner's wallet, and use the credited prepaid balance to run ads. When the balance runs low, advertisers can top it up using the same process or choose another payment method. USDC is currently available to add funds in some countries but is not supported as a standalone payment method. The company also outlined risks associated with cryptocurrency payments, including irreversible transactions, wallet security, price fluctuations, limited protections compared with traditional payment methods and potential blockchain network delays or security issues. While USDC is designed to remain pegged to the US dollar, minor exchange-rate fluctuations may affect the final amount credited when payments are made in local currency. Meta does not charge a fee for stablecoin payments, but third-party providers, including wallets, exchanges or blockchain networks, may charge processing or network fees. These charges are outside Meta's control and should be displayed by the provider before a transaction is confirmed. Refunds for unused balances funded through stablecoins will follow Meta's standard billing refund policies and will be issued as ad credits. The company will not refund stablecoins directly to crypto wallets. Funds sent to an incorrect address or unsupported network cannot be recovered or refunded. Advertisers may be directed to third-party providers to complete payments and will be subject to their terms of service and privacy policies. After an on-chain transaction is confirmed, advertisers will receive confirmation that their ad account has been credited. Ad account balances will continue to be displayed in US dollars or the advertiser's local currency in Ads Manager. Crypto terminology will not appear in Payment settings or the core advertising experience.
