- Advertisement -ADA has rallied close to 19% in a week to press against resistance near $0. 20. The band from $0. 196 to $0. 214 now decides the next directional move. An RSI near 70 marks an overbought bounce arriving into overhead supply. A short squeeze and futures buying drove the recovery off the June low. Cardano traded just under $0. 20 on Friday, closing a week that added close to 19% and pulling ADA well clear of its June low near $0. 138. The token is worth roughly $7. 2 billion again, and it has climbed back into the lower half of a price band that capped every advance through June and July. The daily chart has reached the point where the recovery either proves itself or stalls. The rising channel that carried ADA up from $0. 138The bounce has built inside a clean ascending channel drawn off the June bottom. Its lower rail held at that low and again at the July pullbacks, which gives the structure a floor traders can actually lean on, and price has now travelled all the way to the upper boundary. That boundary lands inside the first serious resistance left over from the spring collapse. Measure the retracement from May’s $0. 289 peak down to the June low at $0. 138, and the 0. 382 line sits at $0. 1958 with the halfway mark at $0. 2136. ADA is wedged between the two. These lines carry weight because buyers who were trapped on the way down tend to sell into strength as price returns to them, which is why rallies so often hesitate right here. ADA/USDT daily chart. Chart by Alexander Stefanov. Momentum turned up, but it is stretched at the worst spotADA has reclaimed both its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, and the faster 20-day line has crossed up through the slower one. That crossover, when the short-term average pushes above the longer one, usually signals a real shift in the near-term trend rather than a single strong session. The problem sits in the RSI. The 14-day reading has climbed to roughly 70, the level where the pace of buying has stretched about as far as it normally runs before a pause, and it has arrived there just as price meets channel resistance and the halfway Fib. Overbought by itself does not force a top. Overbought pressed against overhead supply is how bounces usually stall before the market picks a side. What actually pushed ADA off the June lowPrice did not turn on its own. Much of the early move came from traders caught leaning the wrong way. Positioning had run heavily short into late July, so the break higher lit a squeeze. ADA futures volume ran to roughly $1. 03 billion over 24 hours by 7 August, per CoinGlass, with open interest near $519 million and short liquidations outpacing longs as leveraged bears were forced to buy back their positions. Forced buying like that tends to feed on itself, and it explains the speed of the run better than any single headline. Underneath the trade, Cardano’s development calendar gave buyers a reason to stay. The van Rossem hard fork on 18 July moved the network to Protocol Version 11, tightening Plutus performance and node security, and Intersect has framed it as the runway into the Dijkstra phase and its Leios scaling work. Chainspect also clocked Cardano’sNakamoto coefficient at a record 16, a measure of how decentralised the network has grown. The levels that settle the next moveThe map from here is not complicated. A daily close cleanly above $0. 214, with RSI holding instead of rolling over, would clear the channel top and open the road toward the 0. 618 retracement at $0. 2314 and the heavier shelf near $0. 256. A rejection where price sits now sends it back to the 0. 382 line at $0. 1958, and under that toward the lower channel rail and the rising 50-day average in the $0. 167 to $0. 174 area. That lower band is the line the whole recovery rests on. Cardano’sCME futurescomplete their six-month seasoning window on 9 August, a technical box that can matter for US spot ETF applications under the generic listing standards exchanges now lean on. It guarantees nothing. Grayscale is separately targeting an October launch for a spot ADA product, and no US spot ADA ETF trades yet, so any approval would be fresh demand rather than something the market has already banked. The macro tape is less accommodating. Bitcoin dominance holds above 56%, which usually means capital is not rotating hard into altcoins, and the market’s Fear and Greed gauge reads 27, deep in fear. A token trying to break resistance into a defensive market carries a heavier load than one riding broad risk appetite. The gap the rally keeps hiddenOne figure keeps the enthusiasm honest. Cardano’stotal value locked in DeFistands at about $70. 87 million, per DefiLlama, against a market value north of $7. 3 billion, so almost none of ADA’s price is anchored to on-chain usage. The move has also leaned on leverage over conviction: CoinGlass shows 24-hour futures volume near $1. 03 billion against just $205 million in spot, a five-to-one gap that means the rally is running on short-term positioning that can unwind as quickly as it built. That is the real test waiting past $0. 214, and it arrives just as the 9 August CME milestone comes due.
